Visual Inspection
Sucker rods are sorted by size and counted before they are brought into the shop. RMR breaks off by hand every coupling with a friction wrench. Couplings are then tagged and sent to the coupling room for visual inspection. RMR looks for bent rods, noticeable pitting, corrosion, rod wear and shoulder wear to name a few of the possible defects. Then the pin threads are power cleaned with solvent and wire wheels. After cleaning, RMR visually inspects the pin threads for galled, torn or broken threads, gouged, distorted or damaged faces and pitted reliefs. Thread protectors are then added to the threads to protect them though the shot peener. |
