Thread Gauging

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures\New Folder\IMG_0514_edited.JPGRods are rolled to this stage after going through the shot peener. The thread protectors are removed and the threads are again cleaned of all debris and shot. RMR repairs all minor dings to the threads or face that may interfere with the make up of the rod. Threads and rod face are checked with a .002” gauged coupling and feeler gauge to make sure they match properly. RMR also checks for hammer and tool marks, twists, rounded or pitted wrench flats; and the rod shoulder is inspected for pitting or gouge that enters the rod face. RMR takes these extra steps to ensure the customer’s threads hold up to the stress.
